RUBBING A STONE ON A PIECE OF WOOD IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Live durational performance
Duration: 9 days, 1 hour per day
Tokyo Arts and Space Residency (Fall 2022)

While in Japan, I explored the notion of process/processing in the context of the Japanese ways of making things. This exploration involved the close observation of the elements of space, body, materials, and duration in crafts traditions, and also an effort to connect to the supernatural dimensions of what takes place in the making process. This video is about the durational performance piece I carried out in Tokyo. This project is supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
